റയിൽവേ സ്റ്റേഷന്‍ ധർണയ്ക്ക് നേതൃത്വം നൽകി നഗരസഭയിലെ ബിജെപി കൗൺസിലറും

കോട്ടയം: ട്രെയിനിന് സ്റ്റോപ്പ് അനുവദിക്കണമെന്ന് ആവശ്യപെട്ട് ഏറ്റുമാനൂർ വികസന സമിതി ഏറ്റുമാനൂർ റയിൽവേ സ്റ്റേഷനിൽ നടത്തിയ ധർണയിൽ ബിജെപി നേതാക്കളും. ഫലത്തിൽ കേന്ദ്ര സർക്കാരിനെതിരെയുള്ള സമരത്തിലാണ് ഏറ്റുമാനൂർ നഗരസഭാ കൗൺസിലർ കൂടിയായ മഹിളാമോർച്ച ജില്ലാ നേതാവ് ഉള്‍പ്പെടെയുള്ള ബിജെപി പ്രവര്‍ത്തകര്‍ പങ്കെടുത്തത്. ഇത് പാർട്ടിക്കുള്ളിൽ ചർച്ചയായിരിക്കുകയാണ്.
സ്റ്റേഷന്‍റെ അടിസ്ഥാനവികസനവും വഞ്ചിനാട് ഉൾപ്പെടെ കൂടുതൽ തീവണ്ടികൾക്ക് സ്റ്റോപ്പും ആവശ്യപെട്ടായിരുന്നു സമരം. സ്റ്റേഷന്‍റെ മുന്നിൽ നടന്ന ധർണ ഏറ്റുമാനൂർ വികസന സമിതി പ്രസിഡന്‍റ് കെ. രാജഗോപാൽ ഉദ്ഘാടനം ചെയ്തു. ശബരിമല സീസണില്‍ ഏറ്റുമാനൂരിലൂടെ കടന്നുപോകുന്ന എല്ലാ തീവണ്ടികൾക്കും സ്റ്റോപ്പനുവദിക്കുന്നതോടൊപ്പം റിസർവേഷൻ കൗണ്ടർ തുറക്കുക, രണ്ടും മൂന്നും പ്ളാറ്റ്ഫോമുകളിലേക്ക് ലിഫ്റ്റ് സൗകര്യം ഏർപ്പെടുത്തുക തുടങ്ങിയ ആവശ്യങ്ങള്‍ ഉന്നയിച്ചുകൊണ്ടുകൂടിയായിരുന്നു സമരം.
മഹിളാമോർച്ച ജില്ലാ സെക്രട്ടറിയും മുനിസിപ്പൽ കൗൺസിലറുമായ ഉഷ സുരേഷ്, ഏറ്റുമാനൂർ വികസന സമിതി സെക്രട്ടറി എം എസ് വിനോദ്, സുരേഷ് കുമാർ വി, അനിൽകുമാർ ബി നായർ, കെ എൻ സുരേഷ് പിളള, ജയകുമാർ ജെ എന്നിവർ നേതൃത്വം നൽകി. ഫ്രണ്ട്സ് ഓൺ റയിൽസ് ഭാരവാഹികളായ ശ്രീജിത്ത് കുമാർ, അജാസ് വടക്കേടം എന്നിവർ പ്രസംഗിച്ചു. തദ്ദേശസ്ഥാപനങ്ങളിലേക്കുള്ള തെരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് അടുത്തിരിക്കെ ധര്‍ണയുടെ വിശദാംശങ്ങള്‍ ദൃശ്യങ്ങള്‍ സഹിതം സമൂഹമാധ്യമങ്ങളില്‍ പ്രത്യക്ഷപ്പെട്ടത് ഒരു ആയുധമാക്കി മാറ്റാനുള്ള ആലോചനയിലാണ് എതിര്‍പാര്‍ട്ടിക്കാര്‍.
അമൃത് ഭാരത് പദ്ധതി പ്രകാരം 4.5 കോടി രൂപ ചെലവില്‍ ഏറ്റുമാനൂർ റെയിൽവേ സ്റ്റേഷനില്‍ ആരംഭിച്ച നവീകരണപ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങള്‍ ഇനിയും പൂര്‍ത്തിയായിട്ടില്ല. റെയിൽവേ ലൈൻ ഇരട്ടിപ്പിക്കലിന്‍റെ ഭാഗമായി മുമ്പ് നടന്ന നവീകരണപ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങള്‍ക്കു പുറമെ അടിസ്ഥാന സൗകര്യ വികസനം, സൗന്ദര്യവൽക്കരണം തുടങ്ങിയ കാര്യങ്ങൾക്കായാണ് കേന്ദ്ര റെയിൽവേ മന്ത്രാലയം ഈ തുക അനുവദിച്ചത്. ഏറ്റുമാനൂരിനെ ടെർമിനലാക്കി ഉയർത്തിയാൽ കോട്ടയം റെയിൽവേ സ്റ്റേഷന്‍റെ ഒരു സാറ്റലൈറ്റ് സ്റ്റേഷനായി ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നതും ട്രെയിനുകൾ നിർത്തിയിടാനുള്ള സൗകര്യം ഉൾപ്പെടെയുള്ള വികസനവും പദ്ധതിയുടെ ലക്ഷ്യമായിരുന്നു.
കോട്ടയം ജില്ലയില്‍ ചങ്ങനാശേരി, ഏറ്റുമാനൂര്‍ സ്റ്റേഷനുകളാണ് അമൃത് ഭാരത് പദ്ധതിപ്രകാരം വികസിപ്പിക്കുന്നത്. പ്ലാറ്റ്‌ഫോമുകളുടെ നവീകരണം, എസ്‌കലേറ്ററുകള്‍, ലിഫ്റ്റുകള്‍, ആധുനിക രീതിയിലുള്ള ആധുനിക രീതിയിലുള്ള സന്ദര്‍ശക വിശ്രമ കേന്ദ്രം, കഫറ്റീരിയ, വിശാലമായ പാര്‍ക്കിങ് ഏരിയ, ദിശാ ബാര്‍ഡുകള്‍ ഇതെല്ലാം അമൃത് ഭാരത് പദ്ധതിയില്‍ ഉള്‍പ്പെടുത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. സ്റ്റേഷനിലേക്കുള്ള റോഡുകളുടെ നവീകരണപ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങളും നടന്നുവരുന്നു. കേന്ദ്രസര്‍ക്കാരിന്‍റെ ഈ പദ്ധതികള്‍ പ്രാവര്‍ത്തികമാക്കി വരുന്നതിനിടെയാണ് ബിജെപി നേതാക്കളുടെ നേതൃത്വത്തില്‍തന്നെ റയില്‍വെ സ്റ്റേഷനു മുന്നില്‍ നടത്തിയ ധര്‍ണ ഇപ്പോള്‍ ചര്‍ച്ചയായിരിക്കുന്നത്.
BJP Councillor's Protest at Ettumanoor Railway Station Sparks Internal Row
Kottayam: A protest led by Ettumanoor Municipal Councillor and Mahila Morcha District President Usha Suresh, demanding the development of the Ettumanoor Railway Station, has triggered controversy within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The agitation, organized by the Ettumanoor Development Committee in front of the railway station, called for additional train stops and basic infrastructure improvements. However, the participation of several BJP leaders and workers gave rise to public perception that the protest was directed against the Central Government, causing significant embarrassment to the party leadership.
With the local body elections fast approaching, BJP insiders have expressed discontent, accusing the councillor of politically miscalculating the timing and nature of the protest, which has now put the party on the defensive.
The dharna, inaugurated by K. Rajagopal, President of the Ettumanoor Development Committee, demanded that all trains passing through Ettumanoor during the Sabarimala pilgrimage season be given a stop. Protesters also urged the railway authorities to open a reservation counter, provide lift facilities to platforms two and three, and expedite the station's overall modernization.
Apart from Usha Suresh, the protest was led by M.S. Vinod (Secretary, Ettumanoor Development Committee), Suresh Kumar V, Anil Kumar B. Nair, K.N. Suresh Pillai, and Jayakumar J. Friends on Rails representatives Sreejith Kumar and Ajas Vadakkedam also addressed the gathering.
Opposition parties, meanwhile, are reportedly planning to use visuals and details of the dharna circulating on social media as political ammunition against the BJP in the upcoming elections.
Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, renovation works worth ₹4.5 crore have been launched at Ettumanoor Railway Station, though they remain incomplete. The Central Railway Ministry had sanctioned the funds for infrastructure enhancement and beautification, in addition to previous works carried out during the line-doubling project.
The project aims to upgrade Ettumanoor into a terminal station, functioning as a satellite facility for Kottayam Railway Station, with additional provisions for halting trains.
Ettumanoor and Changanassery are the two stations in Kottayam district being developed under the Amrit Bharat scheme. Planned works include platform modernization, installation of escalators and lifts, establishment of a modern passenger lounge, cafeteria, spacious parking area, and improved approach roads.
Ironically, even as these Central Government projects are progressing, the protest led by BJP leaders in front of the same railway station has now become a subject of intense debate both within and outside the party.
